How can you get a video camera underwater? okay i am trying to make a youtube video that goes underwater. any help? first answer is best answer!

tennis_gurly replied: "put a water proof cover on it!"

danibabix13 replied: "get one of the water proof camera cases like that, expensive,,, but worth it :]"

Little Dog replied: "What is your budget? How deep does it need to go? Which camcorder? Sony has some in their accessories area... Ewa-Marine make "affordable" underwater bags. Or there are several companies that make good solid housings. Or if you decide you want to trust your expensive camera equipment to two or three layers of THICK ziplock bags..."

If i put my camera underwater in a ziplock bag will it be ok? i wanna take pictures under water... with a junk camera it has no significant use for me tho.. i was just wondering in i put it say in a zip lock bag and taped it nicely together so no holes would it still take pictures?

gummyworldlover replied: "They have some underwater camera bags. So I think you should get those just to be safe"

kaiy2k replied: "Not a good idea, unless it's a disposable camera. As a matter of fact, they make waterproof disposables, if you are looking for cheap, why not get one of those. If are a little more serious, look at the aqua-pak.=*&bhs=t&Go.x=0&Go.y=0&Go=submit"

j replied: "get a device to hold it safly."

How do you keep the lens on your camera underwater housing clean after scuba diving? I know after each dive you should soak it in fresh water. But after that don't you still get water stains after you pull it out? Should you clean it with windex or some other cleaner? Thanks. What cuss word ends in R? I'm asking a question. I never said that I was going to do something so what action would I be performing that would make me a retard?

Oren R replied: "y the ****r u doing that for? retard"

rjamason1@sbcglobal.net replied: "After you have soaked it in fresh water using a household glass cleaner will work to keep the water stain off. Make sure that you use a very soft clean cloth to avoid scratching the lens of your housing. Before you start cleaning the lens with the cloth, make sure that the lens does not have any sand or grit on it. If some time goes by between soaking the housing and cleaning it, it wouldn't be a bad idea to soak it again just prior to cleaning it."

scubabob replied: "Actually, if I were to use a "household" cleaner on my Ike Lite, that would void the warranty. They suggest using a clean soft dry chamois type cloth to dab it after the rinse bucket. I can understand why they suggest that since those housings are also plastic. Some glass cleaners have an issue with plastics."

what can I use to take valuables like a camera underwater with me while snorkeling ? Is this impossible, or can my belongings be put inside some special product that is waterproof and that can withstand submersion into very deep ocean waters ? For example 1000 feet waterproof bag- is there such a thing? I don't want my things to get stolen on land or by other passengers on the boat.

DnldDuk replied: "zip lock bag. they work great"

Javier B replied: "Go to the camaras company website they should have water safe cases that you can buy."

JJ replied: "underwater camera??"

scubabob replied: "1,000 foot rated bag? Somehow I don't think you'll need something like that. If you're only snorkeling then there are many products for small personal belongings that work just fine. You can use your hotel room safe for large items. At most, the only things you'll have with you on the boat are your swim gear, a little cash for the bar ( if it's not included), a copy of your ID (leave the real deal in your room safe) and any medications or small personal effects you require like room keys or cards. Keep it light. Cash or jewelry can be put in a water proof screw top container that has a neck lanyard. I've accidentally taken one of these with me to 120 feet scuba diving and still had dry cigs to smoke after. Here are some examples As for a camera, only for snorkeling or surface swims, there are camera bags that are rated for 30 feet. Google "waterproof camera bag for ". They're different for each model depending on where the camera lens is located. Don't use a zip lock bag for anything you actually care about and don't forget that the more you take with you in the water and need a large enough dry case or bag for, the harder it's going to be for you to pop under the surface for a closer look at things. Those cases all have air in them."

Would it be a good idea to use a ziplock bag to store a cellphone or a camera for underwater swimming? I want to use my camera underwater to take pictures and I want to keep my cellphone with me at all times so no one could take it. Has anyone done this with a ziplock bag? I would want to know because I do not want to ruin my stuff by doing this.

Shawty replied: "a ziploc bag is not gonna work they sell bags for underwater and/or they sell cameras for underwater pictures but i think there kinda expensive."

kim.lashai replied: "you better have some dang good ziplock bags. maybe you should use more than one(:: what good is a phone underwater anywaysss??"

Jake replied: "do not use a ziplock bag. that will not work. you need to buy a bag or container made specifically for going underwater. to use the camera underwater, you will need a special case that allows access to the buttons."

LDee replied: "No. It won't work. In fact, some guy tried exactly that, then came here and asked what he could do to get his water-logged electronics working again. Get an underwater camera. And leave your cell phone in dry dock."

Would it be a good idea to use a ziplock back to store a cellphone or a camera for underwater at the beach? I want to use my camera underwater to take pictures and I want to keep my cellphone with me at all times so no one could take it. Has anyone done this with a ziplock bag?

fhotoace replied: "There are special waterproof containers that will protect your cell phone and others designed for use under water shooting with digital cameras. "

Can you use a regular disposable camera underwater ? I ive heard rumours and would like an answer from someone whos tried it or has seen it put it to practice, as to whether it works.

cookie monster replied: "you can buy waterproof throw away cameras i used one of these in Spain and they really work they go about 10 metres underwater, not sure about the regular ones though."

203 replied: "No you can't but just like cookie monster says, you can buy specifically waterproof/underwater disposable camaras. Alternatively, invest in an aquapac and put your standard camera inside that, hey presto! Underwater camera."

is there any way that i can take my Nikon camera underwater? i really want to be able to take underwater photos but the only underwater housing device i found was like 2,000 dollars! does anyone know of a cheap protection device i can use for my nikon?!

fhotoace replied: "There are some inexpensive "bags" that can be used, but the are only good down to about one meter. To dive, you need to invest the $2,000 + for a real housing. Here is a start "

Jameson replied: "You can always search ebay... Most manufacturers charge way too much for a case for your camera. I'd advise (if you're not taking it too deep) try a ZipLoc baggy. I do that with my cheaper cameras to take pictures sometimes. works like a charm ;-)"

Caoedhen replied: "If you are talking about shallow water, like snorkeling or just wading around, one of the Ewa bags will probably be enough. Even then, you may end up with a dead camera. If you are talking about actually diving with the camera, you'll have to spend the money on a full case and ports and all that stuff. It ain't cheap. You could also look for a comparatively inexpensive digital camera that is made for the purpose. Most are still limited to maybe 30 feet, but you don't risk your DSLR that way."

What's the best deal for taking a digital camera underwater? Canon D10... about $330 Optio W30... about $150 Optio W60... about $300 Sony Cyber-shot 12.1 megapix. w/ sony waterproof case... total about $230 Canon powershot 12.1 megapix. w/ canon waterproof case... total about $360

Elvis replied: "canon D10"

Georgie replied: "The Canon D10 has a lot of good reviews regarding picture quality and very fast response time compared with the others. The only bad thing about it seems to be how bulky it is. I've gone through all those options in my search for a decent camera - finally decided on a Panasonic Lumix FT1. The Canon was my 2nd choice."

retiredPhil replied: "The June issue of Popular Photography compares 5 underwater cameras. You might want to read it. I might pick the Olympus Stylus Tough 8000."

What is a good underwater camera case? (DSLR)? I have a canon eos 450d, and i really want to try some underwater photography the next time i go scuba diving.. but im nervous about taking my camera underwater so I was wondering what case's would be reliable? I don't want to spend too much ( as in nothing over £400) Any suggestions?

leahchattam replied: "Found it for ya! It's $119 at I've been scuba diving for a few years now, and had the same worries with my camera. It's definitely always best to choose the case that works with your specific camera - this ensures it is completely waterproof tight. Enjoy, and happy scuba diving! Your photos will look great!"
